the story of Rome SDS Snowboards begins in 1985. That year, future founders Paul Maravetz and Josh Reid discovered their passion for snowboarding.
In the mid-1980s, the sport was still at a very young stage far removed from the hype of the Olympics and energy drink videos. From the start, the two snowboard enthusiasts focused on the fun of their favorite sport. In the ten years of investment, they have been pursuing their passion day in and day out, working with already existing future snowboard brands, learning the business side of snowboarding and later Rome Snowboards SDS was born in the state of Vermont.
In the late 1990s, the sport of snowboarding came more into the hands of people who only saw the dollar signs, without paying any attention to the typical values of snowboarders. In 2000, the two quit their jobs and decided to build their own franchise, based on the exact criterion that brought them into the snowboarding world in the first place: fun! Thus, within a few months, a group of snowboard enthusiasts gave birth to Rome Snowboards in a small office in Stowe, VT. This is how the Snowboard Design Syndicate (SDS) came about - a fixed, innovation-driven movement to give snowboarders complete control over their favorite sport.
