Splitboard
Splitboards
Splitboards represent a fundamental shift in how you approach mountain riding. Rather than hiking uphill with a resort snowboard under your feet, a splitboard separates lengthwise, allowing you to mount climbing skins and use specialized boots for the ascent. Once you've gained elevation, the two halves rejoin to form a complete board for the descent. It's a simple mechanic that opens up a lot of terrain.
What to consider
The core trade-off is weight and packability versus the performance you're used to on-piste. A quality splitboard shouldn't feel drastically different on the way down, but it's designed with different priorities—floatation in fresh snow, stability in variable conditions, and durability through repeated touring cycles. Our selection focuses on builders who take both aspects seriously.
We carry boards from Korua and Fjell, both known for thoughtful construction and honest design. If you're transitioning from standard riding, we recommend visiting to discuss setup—binding compatibility, boot choice, and how to dial in the right width for tech binding boots makes a real difference.
Complementary gear
A splitboard is one piece of the puzzle. You'll also need boots compatible with tech bindings, touring bindings, climbing skins, and proper outerwear and base layers for time above the treeline. The full snowboard collection includes standard boards as well, if you're building a quiver.
